Shri Nasiya Ji Digamber Jain Mandir
Shri Nasiya Ji Digamber Jain Mandir, situated on Railway Road in Basti Tanka Vali, Ferozepur Cantt, opposite Arya Orphanage, is one of the oldest and most revered Jain temples in the region, dedicated to the Digamber sect of Jainism. This sacred place of worship reflects the rich spiritual heritage and philosophical depth of Jain traditions, particularly emphasizing non-violence, truth, and renunciation.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, and houses intricately carved idols of other Tirthankaras as well. The central sanctum features a beautifully adorned black stone idol of Lord Mahavira in Padmasana (seated lotus posture), symbolizing peace, enlightenment, and liberation. The calm and clean environment of the temple makes it a perfect place for introspection, meditation, and spiritual connection.
The temple structure, though modest in size, showcases traditional Jain architectural aesthetics, with white marble floors, carved domes, and peaceful prayer halls. Inside, the walls may be adorned with Jain symbols, teachings of the Tirthankaras, and stories from the life of Lord Mahavira, aiming to educate and spiritually uplift the devotees.
Daily rituals include Aarti, Abhishek (ritual bathing of idols), and Prakshal, carried out by temple priests or community members, particularly during Jain festivals like Mahavir Jayanti and Paryushan Parv, when the temple becomes a hub of devotion, sermons, and communal fasting. On such occasions, the temple is beautifully decorated, and discourses on Jain scriptures are held for spiritual enrichment.
Managed by the local Jain community, Shri Nasiya Ji Digamber Jain Mandir not only serves as a place of worship but also functions as a center of moral values, discipline, and peaceful living, making it a significant religious and cultural landmark in Ferozepur Cantt.
